North Dakota was awarded a SAMHSA Disaster Response State Grant Program in 2021 and PIRE serves as the evaluator for this project. SAMHSA recognizes that natural disasters can have long-term behavioral health effects on adults and children. These effects can include an increase in substance misuse and increasing stress, anxiety, depression, and other mental health symptoms. The purpose of this programis toprovide mental and substance use disorder treatment, crisis counseling, and other related supports for adults who experienced floods that occurred in North Dakota in 2019. PIRE, as evaluator, is responsible for helping grantees collect and enter GPRA data and provide analyses and reports around these outcomes. We also collect and analyze data in aggregate that grantees report monthly through an online portal developed and managed by PIRE.
