Dr. Robert Flewelling is a Senior Research Scientist with PIRE’s Chapel Hill Research Center in North Carolina, where he also served as Center Director from 2006 to 2010 and again from 2016 to 2018. His Public Health doctorate includes a formal minor in Epidemiology, and before joining PIRE in 2000 he held previous positions as a Research Epidemiologist with RTI International and an Epidemiologist with the Washington State Department of Social and Health Services. He has extensive experience evaluating community- and school-based substance misuse prevention initiatives and working with state prevention agencies to apply data-driven strategies to their needs assessment, planning, monitoring, and evaluation efforts at both the state and community levels.
