Dr. Delmerico is an Associate Research Scientist at PIRE’s Chapel Hill Center. Additionally, he serves as Community Health Behavior Scientist at the Center for Health and Social Research at Buffalo State College. He is a health geographer by training with broad interests in community health and health behaviors. His primary research interests are in health disparities, alcohol and substance use behaviors, mental health, physical activity and nutrition, and healthy aging. He has extensive training and experience in spatial analysis with point and areal data, multilevel and spatial regression analysis and modeling, survey development and implementation, continuous quality improvement using data driven approaches especially utilizing a Results-based Accountability framework, interactive data dashboard design and development, and environmental prevention and health promotion strategies. Throughout his career he has worked in applied and translational research projects directed at addressing health behavior, population health and inequity within the broader context of social determinants and complex systems.
